Welcome to Planta Maestra Ayahuasca Healing Center

We serve the Medicine. It is our Calling.

Planta Maestra Ayahuasca Healing Center is an Ayahuasca & Master Plant healing center located deep in the Peruvian Amazon, accessible only by river and far from the busy areas of Iquitos. Our center is held within the natural rhythm of the jungle, away from urban noise and outside activity, allowing the work to take place in a quiet and focused environment.

Our work is rooted in Indigenous Amazonian plant medicine traditions and guided by Kokama and Shipibo Shamans with long-standing relationships to the plants and the land where our medicine comes from. All retreats are held on site in a traditional ceremonial setting designed to support safety, presence, and depth.

The Medicine is offered with clear preparation, attentive pacing, and ongoing integration support, allowing each process to unfold naturally and in its own time. Participants are supported by an experienced facilitation team alongside the Shaman throughout the retreat, including during ceremonies and integration.

Group retreats are kept intentionally small, so each participant can be held with care within a well-contained ceremonial space. The jungle supports focus and deep work, allowing ceremonial practice and integration to be approached with respect and attention.

Planta Maestra is a humble place of service to the Medicine and to those who feel genuinely called to this work.

Everyone in their lifetime needs to come to Amazonia…. Prior to this trip I did a full blown research on where to go, and decided, if I go, I’ll go directly into nature… Planta Maestra camp is in the perfect spot, on Amazon river and with hammocks you can enjoy the view… everything was just perfect from the beginning to the end, the crew supporting the camp, the accommodation, the food… just everything… but I wanted to highlight Daniel, the owner of the camp, who was with us most of the time, explaining everything about the jungle… his energy literally transforms into you… gotta share the highlights of my trip, during the phishing of piranhas, my phone slipped into a water where we were fishing, and Dan, super brave man jumped into the water and pick it up from the bottom of the river in third attempt… Since then, I call him brother 🙂 Overall, my message is - if you want to explore Amazon, there is NO better place than Planta Maestra camp! I am 100% sure brother Dan will treat you as he treated us!

After searching mainly for a place offering a traditional, authentic ayahuasca experience, I found this location.
(I am a Japanese person who participated in a 10-day retreat in November 2025. I am posting this in English after translating the Japanese text using a machine translator.)

This was a genuine ayahuasca retreat center where I felt completely at ease.

Located deep in the Amazon, about a 2-hour journey from Iquitos, the retreat center offered the best possible environment.
Daniel, the owner and host, is bright, cheerful, and always attentive.
His sincere dedication to serving Ayahuasca and spirituality made him trustworthy and reassuring.

The hospitality was exceptional, and his open-mindedness and enthusiasm made me feel genuinely at ease from the very first ceremony.

He consistently attends to each participant's individual circumstances and needs, providing a constant sense of deep inner security. From the spiritual aspects to communication with the shaman and the venue itself, they provide truly the best possible environment.

The high ratings on Google Maps made me sure it would be a good place, and it absolutely was.

Daniel is a local Peruvian who has experienced an incredible number of Ayahuasca sessions since his teens.
He holds deep respect for tradition, and the Maestro shaman he chose was also wonderful.

Furthermore, one major draw is how they complement the ayahuasca experience with offerings like kambo cleansing, flower baths, and San Pedro (Wachuma) experiences.

The food is delicious, and the rooms are simple and comfortable.
Everything is prepared to help you focus and make the ayahuasca ceremony meaningful.

They offer Amazon River or jungle tours tailored to participants' preferences.
In our case, the Amazon river boat tour included searching for rare, beautifully singing birds and pink dolphins, visiting riverside villages, and letting us play in spots with clear, easy-to-swim water.

The jungle tour guided us through various sights like impossibly huge trees, sacred plants, medicinal herbs, and showed us animals and their nests.
The participants from the retreat just before ours seemed to prefer more wild tours.
These experiences weren't just for fun; they were described as important time to deepen our connection with nature and enhance the experience.

Overall, the hospitality is overflowing, so I can only feel gratitude.
With heartfelt respect and thanks for the environment Daniel has prepared, I wanted to post this recommendation for this place if you're considering an Ayahuasca ceremony.

Regarding the retreat cost, considering all the extra services provided, it's reasonably priced compared to others, and I felt that honesty was another reason I chose it.
I believe this entire environment was created out of Daniel's respect for Ayahuasca and the Amazon, and his sincerity towards that.

In my case, my inquiry email didn't go through properly, so if you don't get a reply, you might want to try contacting him via WhatsApp.

Another great attraction is that they offer Cambo cleansing, flower baths, and San Pedro (Huachumas) experiences to complement the ayahuasca experience.

This place is one hundred percent real and authentic, and is dedicated to ensuring you have a fully traditional Peruvian Ayahuasca experience. They perform all the different ceremonies according to ancient tradition, which is an incredible experience to be able to be part of as an outsider.
Danny and his team do an amazing job to take care of you and ensure you have the very best experience possible and fully prepare you mentally and physically. They are highly flexible and cater to both first time and experienced seekers. As the retreat is not too large, the setting here is very private and thus schedules are often tailored to your individual needs, which is hard to find for such a retreat.
We ventured out on the amazon river, did a nice jungle walk and learned a lot about the medicine and its (intensive!) preparation.

Prepare yourself for a full detox on every possible level: smaller portions of food without salt, no coffee, no light, no cellphone reception (and internet only briefly and if really necessary in 1 spot of the retreat).
The jungle itself is amazing, so beautiful and so many (new) sounds, I particularly enjoyed the song of the Oropendula which is super unique in this place. This setting is perfect for calming your mind and preparing yourself mentally for the ceremonies.
I cannot describe the peace I felt after having spent a couple days connecting to nature here...

Oh, and be sure to bring sunscreen as you cannot find that anywhere from Iquitos onwards!

This was my second time back at Planta Maestra in Iquitos, Peru, and honestly, the experience felt even deeper this round. If you're researching ayahuasca retreats in the Peruvian Amazon and trying to figure out where to go, let me share what made this place so special for me.

The brand new maloka (ceremonial space) is absolutely beautiful. I'm not exaggerating when I say it holds such strong, loving, and healing energy. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt grounded, focused, and deeply supported in my process. I did 8 ayahuasca ceremonies over 14 days, and during one of them, I experienced something I'll never forget - the spirit of Mother Aya poured down love and light from the top of the maloka, filling the entire space with peace. She said, "Healing" is the name of this Maloka 🥹 At one point it felt like the maloka opened to the sky, no roof, just one with the universe, as if the ceremony itself was breathing with us.

This time I did a traditional plant dieta with Wayra Caspi, which is a powerful teacher plant known for clarity, strength, and connection to wind and spirit. For anyone unfamiliar, a plant dieta is a traditional Amazonian healing protocol where you work with a specific plant medicine (separate from the ayahuasca ceremonies) through isolation and dietary restrictions. It's deep work. Throughout my dieta, I could feel Wayra Caspi's energy helping me open my vision, focus my mind, and move through my healing with lightness and presence.

Every single day living in the jungle at Planta Maestra, I felt my entire body and being recalibrating to the moment and the power of now. There's something about being disconnected from everything, surrounded by the Amazon, that's deeply healing and peaceful. It's a real space for inner work and learning, not just an "ayahuasca tourism" experience.

My maestros, Shaman Don Leo and Maestra Vilma, are the real deal. They carried the space with so much love and power. Their icaros (healing songs) were alive, deep, and full of devotion - you can feel the medicine move through every note they sing. This is traditional Shipibo healing, not some watered-down version. You're in the hands of people who have spent decades mastering this work.

And then there's Rocky, the dog! He somehow knows exactly when to appear during ceremonies or around the center. Just this calm, comforting presence that everyone absolutely adores. Honestly, he's part of the healing team.

The food deserves a mention too - even within the restrictions of dieta eating, every meal was phenomenal, nourishing, simple, and made with love. You can tell someone who understands the healing process is preparing these meals.

I can't imagine going to another ayahuasca retreat center after being here twice. I've done my research, I know what's out there in Iquitos and across Peru, and Planta Maestra is where I'll keep returning. It's more than a place - it's a living field of love, focus, and true healing 🙏🏻

If you're serious about ayahuasca healing work, if you want authentic traditional plant medicine (not a commercial retreat), and if you're ready for real transformation in the jungle, this is the place. It's not a luxury resort - it's rustic jungle living. But that's exactly what makes it perfect for the work.

For anyone looking for the best ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos or considering a plant dieta in Peru, I genuinely can't recommend Planta Maestra enough. This is my spiritual home for this work now.

This was my first time traveling to Peru and I am so glad I picked Planta Maestra for my time there. I'm 20 years old, was traveling
solo (which can be scary), and this was my only my second time working with plant medicine. If you're reading this and feeling nervous like I was, I can assure you, this is THE place.

What makes Planta Maestra so different from other ayahuasca retreats in Iquitos is that it's genuinely a family, not just a business. I researched a lot of other centers, and most of them pack 20-30 people into ceremonies. At Planta Maestra, there were only FOUR of us!

That means Maestra Vilma (our incredible shaman) could actually be present with each person's journey. I cannot overstate how important this was for my healing.

The location is DEEP in the Amazon jungle. Everything was arranged, we took a 2-hour boat ride from Iquitos on the Amazon River and at night you can hear all the jungle sounds. The stars are insane because there's zero light pollution. It's the real jungle, but they still have clean facilities, running water, and amazing food. It's the perfect balance of authentic immersion without feeling unsafe or uncomfortable.

I did a 7 day women's retreat which included: 4 ayahuasca ceremonies with flower baths before each one, 1 kambo ceremony (frog medicine), jungle expeditions where Danny taught us about medicinal plants, lots of free time to rest, and integration circles where we could process everything.

For anyone considering different ayahuasca retreats in Iquitos - here's my honest opinion:
Most commercial centers in Iquitos charge way more money for way less personal attention. At Planta Maestra, the pricing is incredibly fair, and you get genuine one-on-one healing work. This isn't some tourist ayahuasca experience - this is authentic Amazonian plant medicine tradition done right. The other huge difference is that you actually develop real relationships with the shamans and facilitators, and they are all such incredible people I could gush about them forever.

Maestra Vilma is the real deal. She's a female shaman with decades of experience, and her icaros (healing songs) literally moved through my body in ways I can't even describe. She knew exactly what each of us needed in every single ceremony.

Danny (the owner) is someone you can tell pours his heart into this place. He literally carried wood by hand from the river through the jungle to build the new maloca (ceremony space), which was so beautiful by the way.

Messa Virri was there for all the integration work and emotional support, Shirley made the most delicious food (even though we were on the ayahuasca diet!), Freddie takes care of everything with such genuine kindness, and even Rocky the dog became our little guardian 🐕

The safety aspect as a young solo female traveler was huge for me. I felt completely safe the entire time. The all-women's retreat option was perfect. Everyone was so respectful and caring. There's always someone around if you need anything.

This isn't a commercial ayahuasca retreat center. This is a healing sanctuary run by people who genuinely care about transformation and preserving authentic Amazonian plant medicine traditions. The love they put into every single detail shows.

Before I came to Planta Maestra, I was feeling really lost, struggling with self-love, no idea what direction I was heading. I'm leaving with clarity about my path, tools for self-forgiveness, genuine love for myself and others, and this deep inner peace I've never felt before. The transformation is REAL.

If you're considering plant medicine work in Peru, especially in Iquitos, Planta Maestra should be at the very top of your list. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Sending so much love to anyone reading this who's on their own healing journey. May this review help guide you to the medicine you need. 🌿❤️

I spent a beautiful week at Planta Maestra and it was a deeply healing experience. Everything from the pickup to the drop off was filled with care, love, and deep holding. The land is beautiful, the staff is kind, the maestros are incredible, the plants are powerful, and this such is a safe space for transformation. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has any desire to go. I can only pray to have the opportunity to return one day soon!

Such an incredible week spent at Planta Maestra. So much to say and to feel grateful for such a relatively short amount of time.

First and foremost, a very special thank you to Danny and his facilitator Metsa Virri who provided the safest, most comfortable and highly educational space for us to learn everything we needed to learn about the medecine and our experience in the jungle. Their patience and genuine care for our well-being made us feel right at home from the very start all the way through the end, and for this alone I couldn’t recommend Planta Maestra enough to others seeking a deeper connection with themselves and the medecine in the Amazon.

We were truly blessed to be supported by two very powerful and friendly shamans, Don Leo and Vilma, who brought the perfect balance of Kokama and Shipiba tribe energies that very positively influenced our ceremonies and integrations on the mornings that followed, helping us better contextualize and process what we’d gone through the night before. Our first 3 days of ceremonies we were on individual plant diets, which Danny and our shamans carefully selected with the right intuition based on our intentions and personalities coming into this retreat. This really helped us better connect on a deeper level.

Harvesting the Ayahuasca and being part of the preparation process on our first 2 days of the retreat were the perfect activities to make us feel truly included and create that deeper connection with the medicine.

Danny operates with a small but truly dedicated and loving team. I loved the intimate setting, the fact that he comes from the jungle himself and knows so much about its environment and all the different plants involved in such experiences. His center is truly breathtaking.

What made it even more special is how we got to be part of the inaugural ceremonies of the new Maloca, a beautiful and safe space we spent a lot of time in reflecting, experiencing and connecting with one another.

Danny, Metsa Virri, Don Leo, Vilma and of course Rocky the energetic loving dog - thank you all for an amazing week!!

My name is Michael and I just wanted to share my experience with Plantas Maestra peru.
I have just completed a 7 day ayahuasca ceremony with Plantas Maestra Peru, I’ve being prompted to work with Mother Ayahuasca for about 8 years now since discovering it. But due to personal and logistical reasons as I live in Queensland, Australia I’ve only been able to attend a retreat now. After extensive searching and reading of reviews of the extensive retreats in this beautiful country I decided to go with my instinct and allow Plantas Maestra to help me with my healing journey, and it has been the best decision of my life. From as soon as I committed to this retreat it has been a very fluent process with Danny the owner/facilitator answering any questions and guiding me with the right information needed to make it the most beneficial experience. Upon arrival the welcoming energy is so comforting and you are made to feel this is you home, Danny has hand selected an amazing staff to help with this retreat and all of the people there are friendly and beautiful. The meals that are provided were delicious and were customised for my diet, these were an essential process in the healing process.
The extensive knowledge that Danny and Don Leo has of the plant medicine that grows around this beautiful property is called upon to to formulate the right plant diet to help you in the healing process.
The ceremonies all were performed in a beautiful safe space with the comforting reassurance that you were in great hands, Don Leo is a powerful and an amazing shaman help guided me and protected me so that I could connect and heal what I need to overcome. The support I got for Don Leo and Danny after each ceremony to help integrate the experiences from the medicine was meet with no judgment and care helping clarify the significance of these messages. After ceremonies you are giving all access to this beautiful property to rest, digest and interpret the messages from the previous night. The facilities are wonderful they’re comfortable but still feeling like you’re in the rainforest, the excursions are so much fun and genuine, guided by Danny who gives you his expert knowledge of the area. We got to swim in the Amazon river close to the pink dolphins, and visit beautiful communities. This experience was the best experience in my life and I want to thank Plantas Maestra and the whole crew for giving me this once in a lifetime experience. So if you’ve been called to Mother Ayahuasca and you’re deciding on a retreat please consider Plantas Maestra it’s a locally owned and operated retreat that can give you the most authentic experience ever.
If I can come back I will definitely coming back to Plantas Maestra Peru.
Thank you so much team for repairing my connection with the creator.

I went to Planta Maestra with my boyfriend for a week and it was the best week of my life. I will never know how to thank Dany (the owner) and Don Leo (the Shaman) enough for everything they have done for me 💝

It all started with Dany who came to pick us up at the airport to take us to our hotel because we arrived a day before the start of the retreat. The next day he picked us up from our hotel and took us to a wonderful place for breakfast 😋 Then we took a 2 hour boat ride to get to the Planta Maestra center. Once we arrived there Dany gave us a tour of the place. The bungalows are authentic with all the necessary comfort, mosquito nets on the windows and even one that wraps around the bed, royal! 😇
We met Roosevelt, cooked him 👨‍🍳 This man is so kind and gentle 😊 He prepared excellent meals for us every day with healthy foods, full of colors and flavors as well as fruit juices, a a real treat 😋 We felt that everything was prepared with kindness and love 💞 I already miss his meals…
Then we met Don Leo, the Shaman. He is magical 🤩 During one of the ceremonies that I was able to do alone with Don Leo I felt an immense connection with him. I can say that this man saved my life 🥹 I came to Planta Maestra with a deep malaise which had pushed me to want to commit suicide, I no longer had a taste for anything, I no longer had any confidence in myself. Me. Today I live again and I am happy to live 🥰
Don Leo and Dany took care of us like we were part of their family. We feel that their wish is to heal us, to do everything so that we leave happy.
During Dany week we did a Kambo ceremony 🐸 to purify ourselves internally and he also gave us the grated. Don Leo gave us a flower bath before each Ayahuasca ceremony in order to purify us externally 🪷
We also did a Bufo ceremony 🐸 What can I tell you about Bufo, just Wow! 😍🤩 And, you have to do it!! I felt things I had never felt before. I heard sounds I had never heard before. It has an inexplicable and magical side 🦄🌈 Just a feeling of ultimate well-being, so pure, unconditional well-being ✨💗
During the Ayahuasca ceremonies it was very difficult at times but I can only recommend to anyone who wishes to heal to do so. It is a very powerful medicine that fights evil with evil. We really feel when we vomit that our pain is coming out of us. It’s very intense and powerful 💗
What was also great was that the first day we went into the middle of the forest to harvest Ayahuasca. The next day we picked the chacruna 🌿 which grows in the center and helped Don Leo to prepare everything. This allowed us to already transmit our intentions to Ayahuasca to strengthen its effect.
We had plenty of time to rest and Dany took us to do activities like visiting Monkey Island 🐒, seeing and even being able to carry an anaconda 🐍 and in the same place we were lucky enough to be able to take in our arm a little female sloth 🦥🥰 We also went to see the Lupuna Tree, which is a tree over 1000 years old, it is really impressive! 🌳
It was difficult to leave but I know that I will come back because I have some small physical injuries to heal and I have complete confidence that I will be able to be cured of that by returning to Planta Maestra ✨
So Dany, Don Leo, Roosevelt, I say thank you and see you soon. I love you so much ❤️

Thank you Planta Maestra for the most amazing time in my life. l decided to do ayahuasca on my 24 birthday because l was feeling unhappy with my mental health and l wanted to check if plants can heal me. The amazing shaman Leo told me l had trauma from childhood and after 5 ayahuasca ceremonies l see big improvement in my health. This company was the best place l could choose!! l felt very safe like l was at home and everyone was kind and professional. l stayed in a private room with a hammock. Being in the middle of Amazon Jungle was also a bonus and l saw some exotic animals and learned about healing plants. Beside ayahuasca l also did San Pedro, Kambo and Bufo and everything was important to me. l must say it was difficult at times to face all my weaknesses but it was the most rewarding thing l have ever done. l will come back again next year for more ceremonies to fully heal myself. 5 ayahuasca ceremonies were great and l see big improvement but l am looking forward to have more 🙂
Cheers, Maksym

The week that I spent at Planta Maestra was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. I can not say enough good things about my experience here.

From the very beginning Danny was very inviting and helpful. He was there to pick me up from the airport and he showed me around Iquitos before we went to the boat. It was a very beautiful boat ride to get to the center.

The center itself was absolutely beautiful. I stayed in the house in the front near the river and I spent most of my down time in the hammock there.

The food was also GREAT! It did not feel like a diet at all. Roosevelt is a wonderful chef 😋

Don Leo is an excellent Shaman, he made me feel very safe through my stay there. He was always there to help guide me. He is very experienced and very knowledgeable. He is very well connected to the spirits. He has such a sweet pure heart and he truly wants to help others.

I was lucky enough to be there at the same time as Nina. It was also nice to have another girl close to my age going through the same journey in life, we created a great bond as she helped me navigate my experiences too ❤️

Danny is an amazing host. He made sure that I was cared for the whole time that I was there. He made me feel very safe through the whole experience. He has such a genuine soul, he truly cares about the healing of others. He is very educational, he taught me so much about the jungle and the culture of the jungle people.

The hikes and the tours were one of the best parts!

It was such a special experience to hike through the jungle to harvest the Ayahuasca ourselves. I learned so much about the Ayahuasca and many other plants of the jungle on that hike.

I also got to have river tours, including one to monkey island. We got to go see the monkeys at a rescue area and we were able to learn more about them. A couple of the monkeys climbed onto my shoulders, I really loved that, and I got great pictures!

The BEST PART….. Anaconda Island… I am obsessed with sloths.. They had a baby sloth that I got to hold 🥹
And of course a giant anaconda. The anaconda was way too big for me to hold but it was so cool to see and learn about.

As far as my Ayahuasca journey goes.. This was a hard journey for me. Ayahuasca is not a fun, recreational, drug that you do to party. Ayahuasca is meant for something far more deep and powerful than that. Ayahuasca touched me very deeply and it made me confront very hard parts of myself. But it also helped me to heal.

On this journey I also had the opportunity to try Bufo.. All I can say is WOW. Bufo was absolutely life changing for me. I seen inside of my soul with Bufo. It will always be the most amazing experience of my whole life. It has absolutely changed me, in the best way possible.

I was a woman coming here from Texas, all alone, to celebrate my 30th birthday at Planta Maestra. I was incredibly safe and welcomed the whole time as a single young woman traveler. It was the best experience of my life. If you have the opportunity to go to Planta Maestra… Do it. I promise that you will forever be thankful that you did ❤️
